Status Reports
Preliminaries
This is the status of the Gentoo Documentation Project. It will be posted
regularly, but not with a static frequency. All questions can be posted to
gentoo-doc@gentoo.org or to
me personally.
The Gentoo Documentation Project, from now on abbreviated to GDP, has its own
project page (just like almost all other Gentoo projects). You can find it at
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/gdp.
Content
This status mail will briefly discuss the following tasks, objectives and/or
projects related to the GDP:

New / Updated Documentation
Thanks to the efforts of the MIPS team, and Stuart Longland in particular, the MIPS
documentation has received major updates during the last few months. Yet MIPS
isn't the only architecture - Brent Baude
and Joe Jezak are working on various PPC
and PPC64 updates to the installation instructions as well.
The Gentoolkit Guide has received a
huge update to reflect the qpkg deprecation and equery application
changes.
The Fluxbox Configuration Guide has
received additional love. Alin Dobre added a
section on an application launcher and information on graphical file managers.
You'll also find more information on fluxbox-generate_menu in it.
The Gentoo/x86 2005.0
Handbook now has additional information on configuring kernel modules.
A Portage
Introduction has been extended with a section on Finding
Installed Package Documentation.
The Virtual Mailhosting HOWTO has
received some updates that make it accurate again for the latest versions of
the used software.
The KDE Configuration Guide now has
information on several separate KDE applications (for KDE >= 3.4's split
ebuilds).
Of course, we shouldn't forget all the updates to the other guides, such as
spelling and grammar fixes and bugfixes that were reported to Bugzilla.
An overview of all fixed bugreports since the last status update can be found on Gentoo's bugtracking system.

Gentoo Documentation Policy
The Gentoo Documentation Project has had a big update on the documentation policy. It now
contains more specific instructions on how to apply for Gentoo Documentation
Developer status, including a documentation quiz which covers a
magnificently ugly
formatted document which needs some coding style love :)
